Bella Growth Chart
This is a growth chart my mom comissioned me to do for a co-worker who is expecting. It is based on this bedding set, which has been discontinued, so it's nearly impossible to find any of the accessory items. This is my favorite kind of challenge: to match an existing bedding set as closely as possible. I decided to focus on the somewhat intricate fabric patterns in the set, and keep the elephants simple. The mom-to-be hasn't finalized the baby's name yet, so I attached the large elephant with tape. That way it's there for the initial presentation and can then be removed off after the gift is opened, and I will personalize it once the baby is born. It can then be glued back on permanently with wood glue.

Lucy in the Sky...
Our good friends Dave and Jen had their first baby (who made her entrance a bit unexpectantly, and ended up being delivered by dad on the floor of their bathroom!). They named her Luciana, Lucy for short. The nursery is an outer space theme, dad being a physics geek, but they also didn't want it to be too masculine. Because they live in San Francisco, and rent, a mural was not an option. Instead I tried a new medium: canvas. This one is actually 3 panels, each 2 ft by 3 ft. They can be hung in a row or around the room. I used glow in the dark paint for the stars.
